Great news for Kiwi families! 

The new Parent Boost Visitor Visa (PBVV) allows your parents to join you in New Zealand for extended visits, strengthening family bonds and providing invaluable support.

Is this visa for your family? 

To ensure a successful application, here are some of the core requirements:

  • For Your Parents:
    • They must be outside New Zealand when they apply and when the visa is approved.
    • They must not have any dependent children.
    • They must meet health and character requirements.
    • They must have acceptable health insurance for their entire stay in NZ.
  • For You (The Sponsoring Child):
    • You must be an NZ citizen or resident, ordinarily living in New Zealand.
    • You must commit to remaining in NZ for most of your parent’s stay.
  • Financial Options (They must meet ONE of these):
    • Parents’ Savings: NZD $160,000 (single applicant) or $250,000 (with a partner) OR
    • Parents’ Income: A stable personal income of NZD $ 32,611.28 (single applicant) per year or $ NZ$49,552.88 (with a partner) per year OR
    • Your Income (Sponsoring Child): You must have a proven history of meeting the income threshold (e.g., for one parent earning NZD $69,804.80 annually or earning $104,707.20 along with your partner annually) over the last two years.

ℹ️ Important Long-Term Conditions:


Please be aware that this visa includes conditions for long-term health compliance. After 3 years in NZ, parents must leave the country for a new medical check. After fulfilling the relevant criteria, each parent can be granted this visa twice, for a total stay of up to 10 years.
